What if the business conglomerates masquerading as college athletic conferences were busted up and the top 81 teams by attendance were organized by geography rather than TV markets and then given a fair and equitable shot to make a 16-team playoff at the end of the season?

Week 13 standings and playoff projection

Should the college football playoff be expanded to eight teams? NO! Then how do the deserving TCU and Baylor both make the playoffs? First you make the conferences based on geography rather than business conglomerates, then you give each conference champion and other worth teams a spot in a 16-team playoff, and this is what you get.

Teams in red have qualified for the 16-team postseason playoff seeded below the standings. Teams in blue have qualified as the worst two teams in Division 1 and must play to see who is sent down to Division 2 for the following season. Teams are ranked in each division using the brilliant Massey comparison rankings.
